GREEN BAY, WI – A silvery layer of frost coats lawns and windshields across northeast Wisconsin this early Monday morning as fall tightens its grip on the Fox Valley. The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Frost Advisory through 8 a.m., with readings in the mid-30s—cold enough to nip tender plants before the region warms again later today.

According to the weather service, skies stay mostly sunny through Monday with light southwest winds and highs reaching near 63 °F. Residents should cover outdoor vegetation or bring potted plants inside until mid-morning, when the frost melts under the sun. The calm won’t last long, though—a stronger system builds to the west, setting up a gusty, unsettled stretch through midweek.

By late Monday night, clouds roll in and winds shift south, pushing gusts up to 30 mph and bringing showers and possible thunderstorms into early Tuesday. Periods of steady rain are expected Tuesday night and Wednesday, especially along I-43 and Highway 41, where commuters should expect slick pavement and slower travel times. Highs fall back into the low 50s midweek, with wind chills dipping into the 40s near Lake Michigan.

Behind the rain, colder air returns late Wednesday into Thursday. Another patchy frost is likely early Thursday morning as lows dip into the 30s again—an early taste of the First Fall Freeze pattern likely developing before Halloween week.

Prepare for weather whiplash: today’s sunshine gives way to rain, chill, and the unmistakable edge of early winter creeping in.
