Island Pond, Vermont – A cold snap is expected to bring patchy frost across Essex County early Wednesday as overnight temperatures fall into the low 30s.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a Frost Advisory will be in place from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday. Communities such as Lunenburg and Island Pond could see frost form on lawns, fields, and vehicles as skies clear and winds calm.
Gardeners and farmers are advised to take precautions to protect tender plants and crops, which could be damaged or killed if left exposed. Bringing potted plants indoors and covering outdoor gardens with sheets or tarps may prevent losses during the short but sharp cold period.
Travel impacts are not expected, but residents may notice icy dew on rooftops, vehicles, and bridges before sunrise.
The advisory is set to expire after daybreak Wednesday, but another round of cold mornings is possible later this week as high pressure holds over northern New England.
