Binghamton, NY – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of Northeast Pennsylvania, where 6 inches or more of snow could fall between late Monday night and Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
The alert covers Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, and Wayne Counties, including major cities such as Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Tunkhannock, and Milford.
Forecasters warn that travel could be very difficult, with hazardous road conditions expected to impact both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Snow is expected to begin overnight Monday and intensify Tuesday morning, leading to reduced visibility and slippery roads throughout the day.
The heaviest snowfall is anticipated across higher elevations, though most areas are likely to see several inches of accumulation. Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts, as warnings may be upgraded as the storm nears.
Motorists are advised to prepare for slow travel, keep emergency supplies in vehicles, and avoid unnecessary trips during the height of the storm.
The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday evening, as forecasters continue to track the system’s path and snowfall potential.
