Scranton, PA – Residents in northeastern Pennsylvania should prepare for a frosty morning Friday as temperatures dip into the low 30s overnight. The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Frost Advisory for Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties, in effect from midnight Thursday night until 9 a.m. Friday.
Forecasters say temperatures will fall into the low and mid-30s, allowing frost to develop on lawns, rooftops, and vehicle surfaces before sunrise. The advisory affects the cities of Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Hazleton, where clear skies and calm winds will create ideal conditions for frost formation.
According to the weather service, sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left unprotected. Residents are urged to bring potted plants indoors or cover gardens before midnight to prevent frost damage.
Friday will start off cold but sunny, with temperatures rising into the upper 50s by afternoon. This frost event marks one of the first of the season for the region, signaling the onset of late-fall conditions across northeast Pennsylvania.
