Cleveland, Ohio – Heavy gray skies and steady lake-effect snow frame the shoreline this Veterans Day morning as brisk west winds whip across Lake Erie. Temperatures near 28°F and gusts topping 30 mph are already creating slippery patches along I-90 and secondary roads from Mentor to Ashtabula. Visibility fluctuates block to block — a telltale sign of lake-effect bands tightening over northeast Ohio’s snow belt.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula Counties. Snowfall totals could reach one to two inches, with localized bursts producing heavier pockets and brief whiteout conditions. The agency warns that untreated roads, bridges, and ramps will likely turn slick during the morning commute, especially across higher terrain east of the city.

By afternoon, winds should ease slightly as drier air filters inland. Skies may partially clear, but cold air will persist through tonight with lows dipping into the upper 20s. Wednesday brings another chance of rain or snow showers as a weak disturbance crosses the Great Lakes, followed by brighter, calmer weather Thursday and Friday.

Motorists along I-90, Route 2, and I-271 should use extra caution this morning — reduce speed, allow extra braking distance, and watch for sharp visibility drops near lake-effect bursts. The Ohio Department of Transportation advises delaying nonessential travel until mid-afternoon when conditions improve.

While this system won’t bring major accumulation, it marks another reminder that winter’s early tease has arrived across the Great Lakes — and it’s just a preview of colder, stormier weeks ahead.
