Cleveland, Ohio – Drivers across northeast Ohio could face slick highways and reduced visibility beginning around 6 p.m. Sunday as lake-effect snow bands organize off Lake Erie and strengthen overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Medina and Summit counties. Snow totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts where persistent bands set up. Winds will gust up to 35 mph Monday, increasing blowing snow concerns.
Light snow during the day Sunday will have minimal impact, but conditions will deteriorate this evening. I-90 from Cleveland to Ashtabula, I-271 through Geauga County and stretches of the Ohio Turnpike could become snow-covered late tonight. Periods of moderate to heavy snowfall may reduce visibility and create hazardous conditions during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
