CLEVELAND, Ohio – Fall-like weather will hold across northern Ohio today, bringing scattered showers, breezy winds, and even the chance of a waterspout over Lake Erie. Conditions will stay cool, with highs only reaching the upper 60s to low 70s and overnight lows dipping into the 40s in inland areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, isolated to scattered rain showers will push east this afternoon and evening, with additional lake-effect rain possible overnight. Thunder chances remain low, but a rumble or two cannot be ruled out. A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through late Tuesday, warning of dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Erie’s shoreline from Lorain to Ashtabula.

Lake Erie boaters face an elevated risk of waterspouts today, especially near Cleveland and Erie, Pennsylvania, as unstable air passes over the warm lake surface. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph will also make for choppy conditions on the water.

Drivers across Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown should watch for wet roads during the evening commute, while cooler temperatures may require light jackets by nightfall.

More stable conditions return by midweek, with sunny skies expected Wednesday before rain chances increase again Thursday.
