Cleveland, OH – A soggy week is ahead for Northeast Ohio, with rain chances running high through Wednesday evening and scattered thunderstorms expected to disrupt commutes.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, scattered thunderstorms will develop Sunday evening and again Monday afternoon, with a few storms possibly bringing gusty winds. While the threat of severe weather remains low, rainfall totals could exceed an inch in several locations by midweek.
Forecast models show the likelihood of rain peaking Monday and Tuesday, with probabilities climbing as high as 85–90% in Akron, Cleveland, Erie, and Youngstown during the daytime hours. The heaviest rain is expected Monday afternoon through Tuesday night.
The Weather Service notes that Cleveland carries a 68% chance of seeing more than an inch of rain through Wednesday evening. Other areas at risk include Findlay (65%), Akron (61%), Youngstown (57%), and Mansfield (55%). Even Toledo, further west, has nearly a 50% chance of picking up an inch of rainfall.
Drivers should plan for wet commutes, reduced visibility, and ponding on roads during the Monday and Tuesday rush hours. Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy and allow extra travel time when heading out.
