Cleveland, Ohio – Rain and thunderstorms are set to increase across Northeast Ohio through Tuesday evening, with storm chances reaching as high as 85% in cities like Akron, Youngstown, and Cleveland. Commuters and residents should prepare for repeated downpours, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a surge of moisture from the south will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms to the region beginning Monday afternoon, intensifying by Tuesday evening. Rain chances exceed 70% in most areas between 6 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, including Cleveland, Elyria, and Mansfield.

While the storms are expected to remain sub-severe, drivers should watch for reduced visibility and slick roads, particularly along I-77 and I-80. Temperatures will remain warm and humid, hovering in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees across much of northern Ohio through midweek.

Cities like Youngstown and Marion could see multiple rounds of rain, with over a 50% chance of precipitation during most afternoon and evening hours through Wednesday. Those with outdoor plans should remain weather-aware and consider rescheduling or moving indoors.

This unsettled pattern is expected to linger into Thursday, with additional showers possible. Updates from NWS Cleveland will continue as new rounds of storms develop.
