NORTHEAST OHIO – The Cleveland area is known for many things: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, pierogies and good beer. With October approaching, Oktoberfest celebrations are on the calendar across the region. Here are a few events Clevelanders can attend this fall:
Ohio City Oktoberfest
This free festival will be held Oct. 4 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Market Square Park. Visitors can purchase locally made brews, enjoy Bavarian and German dishes, play family-friendly games and enjoy live music.
Main Street Kent Oktoberfest
Main Street Kent will host its annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 4 from noon to 8 p.m. along Franklin Avenue and West Main Street. Admission is free. Local food vendors include the Pierogi Lady, Bell Tower Brewing and Daisy Pops. More than a half-dozen brewers will be on tap. Activities include stein-holding competitions, polka dancing and live music at the Hometown Bank Plaza. Registration for stein-holding is available on the festival website.
Oktoberfest at the Chalet
The Chalet in Strongsville will host free Oktoberfest celebrations Oct, 4 and Oct. 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. Cleveland Metropark food trucks and beverage vendors will be on-site, offering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Activities include wagon rides, polka dancing, live music, games and more. Wagon rides cost $12 for ages 12 and older, $10 for ages 3 to 11 and are free for children 2 and under.
Cleveland Donauschwaben Oktoberfest
The Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center will host its 12th annual Oktoberfest Fall Festival on Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. This indoor event, a fundraiser hosted by the Kulturguppe, features live music and folk dancing, German food and beer, and raffle baskets. Admission is $12 for those aged 13 and older at the door. Children aged 12 and under are free.
