Cleveland, OH – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania through Tuesday afternoon, with lake effect snow bands expected to bring 2 to 6 inches of accumulation and gusty winds up to 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.
The advisory covers Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Summit, Portage, and Trumbull Counties in Ohio, along with Northern Erie County, Pennsylvania. The heaviest snow is expected overnight into Tuesday morning, when snowfall rates could reach 1 inch per hour within stronger bands coming off Lake Erie.
Road crews are preparing for slippery conditions and low visibility, especially along I-90, I-480, and Route 2, where bands of heavy snow may linger through early Tuesday. The NWS warns that travel could be hazardous during both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
Snowfall will vary sharply over short distances—a hallmark of lake effect events—with inland communities expected to see the highest totals, while lakeshore areas may experience lighter accumulations.
Motorists are urged to slow down, leave extra travel time, and check OHGO.com or 511PA.com for real-time road and weather updates. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Tuesday afternoon as snow showers taper off.
