Sidney, MT – Snow is coating roads across northeast Montana this morning, setting up slick travel and reduced visibility that could slow drivers through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. MST Saturday for Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt and Richland counties. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected across communities including Sidney, Wolf Point, Poplar, Plentywood, Scobey, Culbertson and Fairview. Patchy blowing snow will develop in open areas, especially along east-west highways.

Across the region, stretches of U.S. Highway 2 from Wolf Point to Culbertson and Montana Highway 16 near Plentywood may become snow-covered. Interstate 94 near Sidney and Fairview could also see slick spots during the Friday evening commute as temperatures remain below freezing.

Cold air combined with fresh snowfall may also increase stress on newborn livestock in exposed pastures, particularly in rural Roosevelt and Sheridan counties.

Drivers should slow down, increase following distance and check Montana road conditions by calling 511 before traveling. The advisory remains in place until 11 a.m. Saturday, and further updates are possible if snowfall lingers into the weekend.
