Glasgow, Montana – Dense freezing fog continues to affect parts of northeast Montana, prompting an ongoing Dense Fog Advisory that remains in effect through late Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, freezing fog will persist through tomorrow morning, allowing frost and rime ice to continue accumulating on exposed surfaces and roadways. These conditions are creating hazardous travel, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.
Forecasters warned that increasing accumulation of rime ice on electric lines may lead to scattered power outages in affected counties. Reduced visibility combined with slick road conditions may significantly impact driving, especially on secondary roads and rural highways.
The advisory area includes portions of northeast Montana where dense fog has remained entrenched, limiting visibility and increasing the risk of icy conditions on untreated surfaces.
The National Weather Service advised motorists to slow down and leave extra braking distance between vehicles, noting that stopping distances may be longer than normal due to icy roadways.
Residents are encouraged to use caution while traveling, remain alert for rapidly changing visibility, and monitor local updates as conditions improve later Saturday morning.
