Duluth, Minnesota – Drivers across northeast Minnesota face visibility near zero early Thursday as dense fog blankets roads from Aitkin to Duluth, with a Fog Advisory in effect until 8 a.m. CDT. The morning hazard sets the stage for a turbulent weather pattern through the weekend, including a return to high heat and potentially severe thunderstorms by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less Thursday morning, especially in Carlton, Aitkin, and Central St. Louis Counties. Patchy dense fog will clear by mid-morning, but moisture and instability will remain high.

Thursday: Partly sunny skies return with highs in the mid-80s and light southwest winds.
Friday: Storms develop after 5 p.m., with gusty winds and lightning the main threats. Temperatures climb into the low 90s.
Saturday: A 40% chance of lingering storms, particularly in the morning, followed by highs in the low 80s.
Sunday: Mostly sunny and breezy, with highs around 83°F.
Monday: Slight storm chances return late in the day, but skies stay mostly clear.

Storm spotters are encouraged to report hail or rainfall totals as the weekend approaches. More advisories may follow, especially as Friday’s storm risk grows.
