Minnesota wakes up to a gray haze over Duluth as fog drifts along the Lake Superior shoreline and visibility tightens in spots. At 28 degrees with light east winds, untreated sidewalks feel slick, and patchy dense fog could reduce visibility early today.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, local dense fog is possible this morning across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Skies turn mostly sunny later today with highs near 45 degrees, offering a brief February thaw. Tonight falls to 24 under mostly cloudy skies.

Patchy fog may redevelop early Sunday before skies partially clear and temperatures reach 39. Washington’s Birthday stays mostly sunny with a high near 42. That quiet stretch will not last.

By Tuesday afternoon, a developing system brings a slight chance of rain and snow as highs top out near 33. Winds increase from the east at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Snow becomes more likely Tuesday night with lows near 26 and gusts up to 45 mph. Blowing snow could reduce visibility along I-35 and Highway 61 into Wednesday. Highs Wednesday struggle near 29 with continued wind.

Plan for changing travel conditions midweek. Even minor snowfall can create icy patches when temperatures hover near freezing. Additional systems may bring more snow late week.

Are you prepared for slick roads if snow develops Tuesday night?
