Duluth, Minnesota – Low visibility and hazardous lake conditions continue to grip northeast Minnesota as the region battles dense fog and dangerous rip currents this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for Carlton and South St. Louis counties, including Duluth and surrounding areas, until 11 a.m. Saturday. Drivers should expect visibility under a quarter mile and are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra following distance—especially on Highway 61 near the shoreline.

A Beach Hazards Statement also remains active through Saturday evening due to strong rip currents along Lake Superior’s Minnesota and Wisconsin shores, especially near Park Point and Wisconsin Point. Beachgoers should stay out of the water to avoid life-threatening conditions caused by wave surges and unpredictable currents.

Rain chances rise again Monday as fall-like weather returns. Expect scattered showers and possible thunderstorms Monday afternoon, with highs around 68°F. Sunday remains partly cloudy and breezy, but fog could linger early in the day.

With cooler, drier air returning midweek, fall officially sets in across the region. However, intermittent rain and fog may return by Thursday.
