Decorah, IA – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin until midnight Sunday. Areas affected include Charles City, Osage, Decorah, and Prairie du Chien.
According to the National Weather Service, the watch highlights the potential for isolated hail up to ping-pong ball size, wind gusts up to 70 mph, and frequent lightning. Residents in these regions are advised to stay indoors and monitor local weather reports.
The severe weather threat encompasses a population of over 332,000 people, affecting 205 schools and 23 hospitals. The storms pose significant risks, especially with the potential for high winds and large hail. Scattered gusts could result in downed power lines and tree damage, leading to potential power outages.
