Jacksonville, FL – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia until 1 p.m. Wednesday as heavy mixed precipitation continues to affect the region.
The National Weather Service reports that areas including Jacksonville, Gainesville, Fernandina Beach, and Brunswick can expect up to 2 additional inches of snow and sleet. Ice accumulations could reach up to two-tenths of an inch, with wind gusts as high as 35 mph along coastal areas.
Road conditions are deteriorating, especially on bridges and overpasses, making travel dangerous. Wednesday morning commuters should plan for delays and exercise caution. Coastal areas, including Nassau and Glynn counties, are particularly at risk of icy roads and gusty winds.
Residents are urged to stay indoors if possible. For those who must travel, officials recommend carrying emergency supplies, such as food, water, and flashlights.
