Jacksonville drivers could face water-covered lanes and lightning delays tonight as storms push across Northeast Florida into Monday morning. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected through the overnight hours, creating dangerous conditions on I-95, I-10, and surface roads. Travelers should plan extra time, reduce speeds, and avoid flooded stretches of roadway.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 9 p.m. Sunday, with some storms producing heavy rainfall. Localized totals could exceed half an inch. Conditions remain unstable into early Monday, with additional storms possible before sunrise. Winds will shift out of the south at 6 mph, keeping humidity high and making air feel heavy and damp.

By Monday afternoon, storms may redevelop with a 60 percent chance of rain. Highs will reach the low 90s, creating steam-like conditions between downpours. Thunderstorms may linger into the evening before skies clear overnight. Residents should remain weather aware, especially during commutes and outdoor plans. Lightning risk will be highest during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Improvement comes Tuesday, when sunshine returns and highs climb to 92. The drier air will be short-lived, however, as storms re-enter the picture by Wednesday and Thursday. With temperatures near 90 degrees each afternoon, humidity and pop-up storms will remain a consistent theme.
