Denver, Colorado – Golf ball-sized hail and 70 mph winds could slam parts of northeast Colorado this evening as severe thunderstorms develop east of the I-25 Corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, storms are expected between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday, primarily east of a line from Greeley to Limon. Cities including Sterling, Akron, and Fort Morgan sit in the area of highest concern, with the potential for damaging winds and large hail. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 2 (Slight) risk for severe weather in these zones.
Along the Front Range, including Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs, only isolated storms or sprinkles are expected, but gusty outflow winds could still impact the area.
Drivers in the I-25 Corridor should be alert for sudden wind gusts and low visibility. Residents in the eastern plains are advised to move indoors if storms approach and secure outdoor items that could blow away.
More storms could develop into the evening, and additional watches may be issued if conditions intensify.
