Fort Worth, Texas – North Texans could face a dangerous end to the workweek, with high temperatures expected to reach 100 degrees or more across the region by Friday, July 25, and heat index values pushing past 105.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, areas including Dallas-Fort Worth, Sherman, and Graham face a 70-80% chance of hitting the triple digits Friday afternoon. Heat risks extend as far south as Waco and Killeen, where odds are slightly lower but still significant. Residents from Paris to Canton should prepare for similar conditions, with the highest heat expected in the northern part of the state.

Officials are urging everyone to drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors during peak heat, wear light-colored, breathable clothing, and seek shade whenever possible. With the heat index projected above 105, those working or exercising outside are advised to take frequent breaks and recognize symptoms of heat illness such as dizziness or rapid heartbeat.

The extreme heat may also stress local infrastructure and could impact roadways, especially during peak travel times. This event follows a series of early summer heat waves, bringing another round of dangerous temperatures to the region.

The excessive heat warning is expected to last through Friday night, with the potential for additional advisories if temperatures remain high into the weekend.
