FORT WORTH, Texas – After a stretch of dry fall sunshine, North Texas faces a brief round of Saturday thunderstorms before summer-like warmth returns. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth says scattered storms could develop Saturday afternoon, mainly along and east of the I-35 corridor, including the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.

Rain chances stay near 40%, with most activity expected between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Lightning and gusty winds are possible, though severe weather is not expected. Outdoor plans should remain flexible, especially for festivals, football games, or late-day travel on I-20 and I-30. Once the system moves east, skies clear rapidly overnight, setting up a calm and sunny Sunday.

Saturday’s high will reach around 90°F, then ease into the upper 70s Sunday with lower humidity — a pleasant reprieve before a hot start to the new week. By Monday, highs soar back into the low 90s, marking an unusually warm stretch for mid-October.

The rest of the week trends mostly dry with highs in the 80s and plenty of sunshine — ideal for fall yardwork or outdoor events. The next chance for widespread rain looks to hold off until late next week.

North Texans can expect one brief storm window this weekend before classic fall warmth and blue skies take over once again.
