Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Freeze Warning for parts of North and Central Texas from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT Thursday, with temperatures expected to fall near or below freezing overnight.

According to the NWS, low temperatures could reach as cold as 31°F in areas including Comanche, Eastland, Mills, Stephens, and Young counties. The warning covers communities such as Graham, Cisco, Goldthwaite, Breckenridge, and Ranger.

Forecasters caution that frost and freeze conditions may kill sensitive vegetation, mark the end of the growing season, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover plants, wrap exposed pipes, and allow indoor faucets to drip slowly to prevent freezing.

The coldest period will occur just before sunrise, followed by gradual warming as skies clear through the morning. Daytime highs Thursday are expected to rebound into the 50s and 60s.

This first freeze of the season will bring an early taste of winter to the western portions of North Texas.
