Fort Worth, TX – North and Central Texas will experience their first strong fall cold front on Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures, breezy conditions, and a chance for scattered showers, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Forecasters say the front will move through the region during the day Tuesday, producing rain and isolated thunderstorms across areas such as Sherman, Canton, and Palestine. Winds will increase behind the system, shifting out of the northwest and ushering in a much cooler and drier air mass.

Temperatures on Tuesday will reach the upper 60s to upper 70s ahead of the front, then drop sharply overnight. By Wednesday, highs are expected to range from the upper 50s to mid-60s, about 10 to 15 degrees below normal for late October. Morning lows will fall into the 40s and 50s.

Gusty winds will accompany the front, potentially exceeding 30 mph at times, especially in open areas and along elevated terrain. The NWS advises residents to secure loose outdoor decorations and use caution when driving high-profile vehicles.

While rainfall totals are expected to remain modest, brief downpours and isolated lightning may occur as the front passes.

The cool, breezy weather will persist through midweek before temperatures begin to rebound slightly by Friday.
