Dallas, Texas – Hot, dry conditions are driving an increased grass fire risk across North Texas, with temperatures pushing toward 90°F through the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs will reach the upper 80s across Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, and Killeen through Friday, while dry air and breezy conditions elevate fire danger, especially west of I-35 in areas like Graham, Cisco, and parts of western North Texas.

Vegetation remains dry, and any spark—from equipment, vehicles, or outdoor burning—could spread quickly. Fire crews are closely monitoring conditions as the combination of heat and low humidity continues to support rapid ignition potential.

A cold front arrives Friday, bringing a noticeable shift. Highs will fall into the upper 60s to mid-70s by Saturday across much of North Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, and Sherman. Winds will shift, helping reduce fire risk heading into the weekend.

By Sunday, temperatures rebound into the 80s, with warmer conditions continuing into early next week.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and remain cautious with any activity that could produce sparks. Fire risk remains elevated through Friday before easing behind the front.
