Denton, Texas – Powerful winds tore through North Texas Friday evening, damaging several small planes and a hangar at Denton Enterprise Airport. Aircraft were tossed onto each other as gusts topped 75 mph, leaving behind a tangle of wings and fuselages on the tarmac.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, storms developed across Wise, Denton, Collin, Grayson, Fannin, and Dallas counties with wind speeds reaching 77 mph in nearby Aubrey. The City of Denton Fire Department confirmed the airport sustained significant damage but reported no injuries.

Photos show multiple planes overturned, their wings snapped, while a hangar door was ripped from its frame. Crews worked late into the evening to secure the site and assess structural safety. Emergency officials warned residents across Denton County to remain alert for downed trees, power lines, and additional damage reports.

Travelers are urged to check with local airports for delays, while homeowners should inspect properties for roof or fence damage. With storms still lingering in parts of North Texas, residents are advised to keep phones charged in case of further power outages.

Thunderstorm warnings may continue into the weekend as another round of severe weather remains possible.
