Fort Worth, Texas – Damaging winds could disrupt Memorial Day plans across much of North and Central Texas as a cold front triggers strong to severe storms Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, scattered morning storms will intensify throughout the day, with the strongest activity expected from midday into the evening. Affected areas include the DFW Metroplex, Waco, Killeen, Sherman, and eastward toward Palestine and Canton.

The main threat will come from gusts strong enough to down trees and power lines, though large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Storms are likely to be most severe in areas south of I-20, particularly near Killeen and Cisco.

Residents with outdoor holiday plans are urged to monitor conditions closely and move indoors if warnings are issued. Drivers should use caution, especially on highways such as I-35 and US-75, where visibility may quickly drop due to heavy downpours.

Storm activity is expected to subside Monday night, but more updates are likely as the system moves through. Stay weather aware and check local alerts throughout the day.
