Fort Worth, TX – Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to impact much of North Texas from Friday night through early Sunday, with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall disrupting Easter weekend plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the multi-day storm threat begins Friday night and will continue in rounds through Sunday morning. Areas including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Gainesville, Paris, and Killeen could see between 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain, with isolated pockets north of I-20 receiving close to 3 inches.
Storms could bring large hail and damaging wind gusts, though the tornado risk remains low. Saturday is expected to bring the most widespread storm activity, with another round likely Sunday morning as a cold front moves across the region.
Residents are urged to use extra caution near low-lying roadways and construction zones due to possible minor flooding. Outdoor Easter events may need to be adjusted or canceled based on evolving weather conditions.
Officials advise residents to monitor forecasts, secure loose outdoor items, and have a safety plan in place. Weather updates will be posted at weather.gov/fortworth and on social media via @NWSFortWorth.
