Fort Worth, TX – North Texas will remain locked in a hot summer weather pattern through the Independence Day holiday weekend, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 90s and heat index values reaching 100 to 105 degrees across much of the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, little change is expected in the overall weather pattern through midweek. High temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will generally range from the mid to upper 90s, while humidity will make it feel several degrees hotter during the afternoon.
Breezy south winds are expected to continue through Tuesday before gradually becoming lighter later in the week.
The hot and mostly dry pattern is forecast to continue through the July 4 weekend. High temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees, with heat index values continuing to reach the 100 to 105-degree range.
Forecasters say an isolated thunderstorm or two could develop Thursday afternoon, but widespread rainfall is not expected. Better chances for showers and thunderstorms are forecast to return Sunday into Monday, which could bring localized interruptions to outdoor holiday activities.
Residents planning Fourth of July celebrations should prepare for prolonged heat by staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas, wearing lightweight clothing, and applying sunscreen when spending extended periods outdoors.
Those attending parades, fireworks displays, sporting events, or cookouts are encouraged to monitor the latest forecast as rain chances increase late in the holiday weekend.
The National Weather Service advises continuing to monitor updated forecasts, especially if outdoor plans extend into Sunday or Monday when scattered thunderstorms become more likely.
