Fort Worth, Texas – A stretch of classic Texas summer heat settles in starting Sunday, with highs climbing into the upper 90s and no rain in sight for Dallas-Fort Worth and surrounding cities.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a ridge of high pressure is building over the region, bringing back dry, stable conditions through at least Thursday. Daily highs will reach 96–98°F in the DFW metro and 93–96°F in Waco, while overnight lows will hover in the mid to upper 70s.

The heat will intensify midweek, with DFW expected to hit 98°F by Wednesday. Waco will closely follow with highs of 95°F and above. Skies will remain mostly clear, offering no relief in the form of cloud cover or precipitation.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat (2–6 p.m.), and ensure pets and vulnerable neighbors have access to cooling. While this pattern reflects typical mid-July weather, the extended stretch of dry heat increases the risk of grass fires and heat exhaustion.

This summer ridge is expected to persist into next weekend. More heat advisories could be issued if temperatures climb further.
