Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is warning North Texas residents to prepare for a wet and potentially stormy weekend, with the risk of localized flooding and isolated severe storms Friday into Saturday.
According to the latest NWS update early Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase Thursday night, becoming more widespread by Friday and Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is expected near and east of the Interstate 35 corridor, including the Dallas–Fort Worth, Waco, and Paris areas.
Forecasters say there is a 40–70% chance of more than three inches of rain in some areas, with total rainfall likely averaging between one and three inches across North Texas. A few storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning, particularly Friday evening into Saturday.
While Wednesday will remain mild and sunny, residents are urged to monitor weather updates and avoid driving through flooded roadways later in the week. Even a few inches of moving water can sweep away vehicles, officials warn.
The NWS said the greatest flooding potential exists from Friday night through Saturday, especially in low-lying and urban areas where heavy rain could overwhelm drainage systems.
