Fort Worth, TX – Breezy and chilly conditions are lingering across North Texas this Sunday afternoon, with another cold, sub-freezing night expected before a sharp warm-up later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Sunday afternoon highs are topping out in the upper 30s to upper 40s, but north winds of 10–15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph are making it feel colder. Wind chill values are running a few degrees below actual air temperatures, especially across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding counties.
The cold intensifies again overnight. Forecasters say temperatures tonight into Monday morning will drop into the 20s, with wind chills falling into the teens to around 30 degrees. Expected low temperatures include around 28°F in DFW, 23°F in Sherman and Graham, 22°F in Paris, and mid-20s across much of Central Texas, including Waco and Palestine.
The NWS urges residents to take precautions overnight, including turning off sprinklers, covering outdoor faucets, and bringing pets indoors. Icy patches may form on bridges and elevated roadways during the Monday morning commute.
Looking ahead, conditions improve quickly. A warming trend begins Tuesday, with highs climbing into the 60s, followed by near-70-degree temperatures by Wednesday across much of North Texas. Midweek rain chances of 20–30% are possible mainly southeast of DFW Tuesday into Wednesday.
Another cold front may arrive Thursday or early Friday, briefly cooling temperatures before another rebound next weekend.
Residents are encouraged to bundle up through Monday morning, then prepare for rapid weather changes as the week unfolds.
