Wilmington, NC – Residents across Southeast North Carolina and Northeast South Carolina will see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies Friday, October 3, but coastal hazards remain a concern.
According to the US National Weather Service Wilmington NC, brisk northeast winds will continue through the morning, keeping conditions choppy for boaters and beachgoers. High temperatures will range from the mid- to upper-70s across the region, with lows dipping into the upper 50s and lower 60s overnight.
While inland cities such as Lumberton (79/56) and Elizabethtown (79/58) enjoy clear skies and mild conditions, marine concerns persist along the beaches. The Weather Service warned of small craft advisories, dangerous rip currents, strong longshore currents, and the possibility of minor coastal flooding. These hazards are expected to affect popular areas such as Myrtle Beach (78/63), Wilmington (78/62), and Georgetown (77/61).
Forecasters say temperatures will run near or slightly above normal for early October, offering pleasant weather for most outdoor activities. However, officials urge caution for anyone heading to the coast or out on the water. Swimmers should avoid rough surf, and boaters are advised to heed marine advisories.
More updates are expected throughout the weekend as conditions shift along the Carolina coastline.
