Shreveport, LA – Residents across Northern Louisiana should prepare for an active weather pattern starting Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and storms. The National Weather Service warns of possible flooding as rainfall totals may exceed two inches in some areas by the weekend.

According to the NWS Shreveport office, a cold front moving through the region will trigger showers and thunderstorms starting Wednesday afternoon, with peak intensity expected late Wednesday night. Areas along the I-20 corridor, including Shreveport and Monroe, could see localized flooding and ponding on roadways. Motorists should exercise caution during heavy downpours and avoid low-lying areas.

Tonight, temperatures are forecast to dip to the upper 30s under increasing cloud cover, with patchy frost possible in rural areas. Daytime highs on Wednesday will reach the mid-50s before storms arrive. Northeast winds may add a chill to the air, making outdoor plans less favorable.

The five-day outlook predicts a mix of rain and partly cloudy conditions, with highs ranging from the mid-50s to lower 60s through Saturday. Friday offers a brief reprieve with mostly sunny skies before another storm system develops over the weekend.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and secure loose outdoor items ahead of gusty winds. Plan alternate routes to avoid waterlogged streets and ensure emergency kits are stocked in case of power outages.
