SHREVEPORT, La. – A cold front sliding south across the Four State Region Wednesday is bringing a brief taste of fall, knocking back highs a few degrees before a quick rebound into the weekend. Breezy north winds behind the front will drop temperatures into the upper 70s and 80s across much of northern Louisiana, east Texas, southern Arkansas, and western Mississippi.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the front will move through by late Wednesday, ushering in slightly cooler and drier air for Thursday and Friday. Highs will hover between the mid-70s and mid-80s, with nighttime lows dipping into the 50s north of I-20. Skies will remain mostly clear through Friday, but a steady south wind will return by Saturday, allowing temperatures to rise again into the lower 90s by Sunday.

Drivers along I-20 and I-49 may notice gusty winds and a few scattered showers as the front passes early Wednesday, though widespread rain is not expected. Residents are advised to take advantage of the cooler, less humid conditions for outdoor plans before the next warm spell arrives this weekend.

By Sunday, forecasters expect above-average warmth to return regionwide, with afternoon highs climbing back into the upper 80s and low 90s. Gardeners and outdoor workers should continue monitoring early morning temperatures for patchy fog potential through Friday.
