ATLANTA, Ga. – A warm, breezy Saturday across north Georgia will give way to scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds Sunday as a cold front passes through the Atlanta metro. Commuters using I-75, I-20, and I-285 should prepare for brief downpours and slick travel conditions by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, showers and a few thunderstorms will develop Sunday afternoon and continue into the evening. South winds of 15 mph will gust up to 30 mph ahead of the front, especially across higher terrain and exposed overpasses. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch are expected.

Temperatures will reach 72°F before the front pushes cooler, drier air into the region Sunday night. Monday’s sunshine will bring a fresh feel to the air, with highs near 70°F and low humidity. Residents planning outdoor events or fall yardwork will find early-week weather ideal once the front clears.

Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads, especially through construction zones on I-85 and I-20. Secure outdoor decorations and lawn items before storms move in. While no severe weather is expected, brief lightning and gusty winds could cause isolated power flickers.

Clear, crisp conditions return Monday through Wednesday, offering near-perfect weather for fall festivals, hiking, and Halloween decorating across metro Atlanta. The week ahead stays bright, breezy, and seasonably warm—a welcome stretch of autumn calm after a stormy Sunday.
