Atlanta, Ga. – Georgia drivers and weekend planners should brace for a shift in conditions as storms return Saturday afternoon, September 6. After a sunny and warm Friday, isolated thunderstorms may develop across metro Atlanta and north Georgia, creating hazards on I-75, I-285, and surrounding roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, storm chances rise late Saturday and continue off and on through Wednesday. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but downpours could create slick roads and brief travel delays. Forecasters say Saturday storms may start after 2 p.m., with the heaviest activity tapering off by evening.

Sunny skies will dominate much of Sunday, but afternoon showers remain possible across southeast Georgia early next week. Temperatures stay seasonable, with highs near 90 through the weekend before cooling slightly into the mid-80s by midweek. Nights will be mild, holding in the low to mid-60s.

Travelers are urged to check conditions before heading to football games, festivals, or outdoor plans. Wet pavement could cause sudden braking issues on crowded metro highways, especially during peak evening traffic. Residents should secure outdoor equipment, keep devices charged in case of brief power outages, and monitor alerts for updates.

Conditions remain clear Friday night, offering one more dry evening before the unsettled pattern sets in. Spotter activation is not expected, but forecasters will keep watch for stronger cells in the days ahead.

Warnings remain possible through midweek as storm chances continue.
