Jacksonville, FL – Low clouds drift in from the Atlantic this early Sunday, dimming the morning light and hinting at what’s ahead. The air feels heavy — warm, humid, and ready to burst. A few rumbles of thunder could roll through northeast Florida by midday as a new storm system edges closer.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible from late morning through late afternoon. Winds from the east will strengthen near the coast, gusting up to 25 mph, and a Rip Current Statement remains in effect through early Wednesday for area beaches. Travelers along I-95 and U.S. 1 should watch for brief downpours and slick roads.

Monday brings another round of storms, with an 80% chance of rain and possible lightning during the day. Rainfall totals could reach an inch or two, especially inland. Winds remain gusty, with higher chances for coastal flooding along low-lying roads near Mayport and Atlantic Beach.

By Tuesday, the clouds begin to lift, leading into a drier, breezier stretch midweek. Highs will settle in the low 70s by Wednesday, with cooler, more comfortable air for outdoor plans.

Looking ahead to Friday, Halloween night appears mild and dry, with light winds and temperatures near 70°F — perfect for trick-or-treaters across Duval and St. Johns counties.

After all, Florida’s fall rhythm is settling in — a burst of storms, then calm skies before a cooler November slides in.
