Tallahassee, FL – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued multiple alerts for North Florida tonight, including a Cold Weather Advisory, a Freeze Warning, and a Red Flag Warning as a powerful cold front moves through the region.
According to forecasters, sub-freezing temperatures are expected across the Big Bend and Panhandle, with lows dropping into the upper 20s to low 30s overnight Sunday into early Monday. Wind chills could fall into the low 20s, posing a danger to people, pets, and exposed plants.
The Freeze Warning remains in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday until 8 a.m. Monday, while the Cold Weather Advisory continues until 9 a.m. Monday. Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, cover sensitive vegetation, and check on elderly neighbors.
At the same time, dry air and gusty northwest winds up to 25 mph have prompted a Red Flag Warning through 7 p.m. Monday, creating an elevated risk for wildfires. Officials advise avoiding outdoor burning and using extra caution with open flames or heat sources.
Monday will be sunny but cool, with highs near 54°F, before temperatures gradually rebound to the mid-70s by Thursday.
