TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Labor Day weekend plans across North Florida may be washed out as a stalled front brings rounds of heavy rain from Friday through Monday. Rain chances peak Saturday, when many areas face a 75–80% likelihood of showers, raising concerns for outdoor events, including college football games.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Apalachicola, Perry, and Tallahassee top the rain-risk list with an 80% chance of precipitation Saturday, while Cross City faces the potential for both heavy downpours and localized flooding into Sunday. Travel along I-10 and U.S. 98 could be slowed by standing water, and beachgoers should prepare for wet, unsettled conditions.

Communities from Panama City to Valdosta will also see widespread rainfall, with Tallahassee carrying a 65% chance of rain on Sunday before conditions ease slightly into Monday. Emergency managers urge residents to monitor forecasts and avoid flooded roadways. Tailgaters are advised to pack rain gear and plan for soggy conditions at kickoff.

While the tropics remain quiet—Hurricane Fernand is staying well out to sea—the local concern will remain the stubborn rainmaker parked over the Southeast. Weather officials say additional advisories may be issued through the holiday.
