Macclenny, Florida – Temperatures are dropping toward 30 degrees before sunrise, and another, colder round will push parts of North Florida down to 26 degrees by daybreak Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Freeze Warning remains in effect for Baker, Inland Nassau, Eastern and Western Hamilton, and Northern Columbia counties until 9 a.m. Monday. Wind chills between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. will feel as cold as 20 degrees. A second Freeze Warning begins at midnight and lasts until 9 a.m. Tuesday, when lows could fall to 26 degrees, creating pockets of hard freeze conditions. A Cold Weather Advisory from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday will again drive wind chills near 20.

Communities including Macclenny, Jasper, Jennings, Hilliard, White Springs, Lake City’s northern communities, and areas near the Suwannee River face the highest risk. Exposed pipes, irrigation systems, and sensitive winter crops could suffer damage. Outdoor pets and livestock will need shelter as wind chills dip into the lower 20s.

Residents should wrap pipes, bring pets indoors, and cover tender plants before midnight. Those without reliable heat can call 211 for shelter assistance. Warnings remain in effect through 9 a.m. Tuesday, and additional cold alerts could follow if clear skies persist into midweek.
