Tallahassee, Florida – Triple-digit heat indices and near-daily storms will dominate Florida’s Big Bend and surrounding Georgia counties through Monday, with heat and humidity peaking this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, rain chances remain above 50% for most areas from Wednesday through Sunday, while high temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s. Cities like Tallahassee, Valdosta, and Dothan could see highs near 95°F by Sunday, with heat index values approaching 105°F during peak afternoon hours.

Albany, Bainbridge, and Perry are looking at strong storm potential Thursday through Saturday, when rain chances range from 60–70%. Flash flooding and lightning risks remain elevated, especially in low-lying areas and near poorly drained roads. Afternoon downpours may drop 1–2 inches of rain in under an hour.

Drivers should avoid flooded roads and be cautious during sudden storm bursts. The NWS urges residents to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. Those working outside should take frequent breaks and monitor for signs of heat illness.

This “hot and stormy” pattern is expected to last into early next week, with more updates likely as rain totals and storm tracks shift.
