Jacksonville, FL – A Freeze Warning is in effect for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday, as temperatures are expected to dip to around 31°F, marking one of the coldest mornings of the season so far.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the warning includes Suwannee, Baker, Nassau, Hamilton, Columbia, and Union Counties in Florida and extends north into Coffee, Appling, Pierce, Wayne, Clinch, and Atkinson Counties in Georgia.

Forecasters warn that sub-freezing temperatures could damage tender vegetation and pose risks to outdoor pets and vulnerable populations. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring animals indoors, and ensure pipes are insulated ahead of the overnight freeze.

Temperatures are expected to drop quickly before sunrise, with frost forming in low-lying areas and rural valleys. Conditions should warm back above freezing shortly after 8 a.m. Friday.

Officials remind residents to take precautions to prevent cold-related injuries and to check on elderly neighbors or those without adequate heating.
