Lake City, FL – A Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory remain in effect for portions of northern and northeast Florida from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, with wind chills as low as 18°F.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville reports that cities including Gainesville, Lake City, and St. Simons Island will experience sub-freezing temperatures down to 25°F.
Residents should protect sensitive plants, ensure pets are indoors, and dress in warm layers when heading outside. Officials also urge caution when using space heaters to prevent fire hazards.
Temperatures will gradually warm up Friday afternoon, but another round of cold air could return over the weekend.
