Tallahassee, Fla. – Drivers in the Florida Panhandle and southeast Alabama could face dangerous visibility early Sunday due to patchy, locally dense fog blanketing the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, fog began forming before sunrise and is expected to linger through mid-morning, especially across the Big Bend, Dothan, and surrounding rural highways. Visibility may drop below a quarter mile in some areas, making conditions hazardous for early commuters.

Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 231, I-10, and local county roads should slow down, increase following distance, and switch to low-beam headlights. Law enforcement across the region is urging drivers to allow extra time and avoid sudden braking in thick fog zones.

The fog, driven by calm winds and high morning humidity, is typical for late spring but still poses a threat, especially for rural stretches with limited lighting or traffic signals.

Conditions are expected to improve by 9 a.m., but additional fog advisories may be issued if visibility remains poor. Stay tuned to NWS updates and local traffic alerts throughout the morning.
