Grand Forks, ND – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota as snow and dangerously cold wind chills impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will begin Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday morning. While snowfall totals are expected to remain low, temperatures will be frigid, with highs ranging from 8-15°F on Friday. Saturday will see morning snow showers with lows dropping to -9°F.

By Sunday, the cold will intensify, with temperatures ranging from -6 to 15°F. Wind chills will make conditions feel significantly colder, with values as low as -14°F expected Monday morning. Overnight lows early next week could reach -20°F, creating hazardous conditions for those outdoors.

Residents are advised to bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and prepare for icy road conditions. Drivers should use caution, as slick spots may develop, especially in the early morning and late evening hours. Wind chills this low increase the risk of frostbite, which can occur in minutes.

The extreme cold will persist through midweek, with little relief expected. Stay updated on changing conditions and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
