Grand Forks, ND — A light but steady round of snowfall is expected to continue through Sunday evening, bringing up to 2 inches of accumulation across portions of eastern North Dakota, especially west of the Red River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, snow began early Friday and is pushing from west to east. Areas along I-94, including Devils Lake, Valley City, and Harvey, may see the highest totals, with localized accumulations near 2 inches. Bismarck could see up to 5 inches. Cities in the Red River Valley such as Grand Forks and Fargo are expected to receive less than an inch.
The snowfall, while not heavy, could lead to minor travel impacts due to reduced visibility and slippery spots—particularly on bridges and elevated surfaces. Most accumulation is expected on grassy areas due to warm ground temperatures and the high April sun angle.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time Friday and early Saturday and to remain cautious on untreated roads. Conditions should gradually improve by Sunday as precipitation tapers off and temperatures rise.
The snow event is forecast to end by 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6, with no major system expected immediately after.
