Fargo, ND – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect across eastern North Dakota, including Fargo, through Tuesday evening due to strong winds and very dry conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the warning spans the entire eastern portion of the state as well as northwest and west central Minnesota. Wind speeds from the south are expected to range between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, particularly within the Red River Valley.

These conditions significantly raise the risk of wildfires, especially as humidity levels drop to around 15 percent and temperatures climb into the upper 80s and 90s. The combination of dry air and powerful gusts could lead to rapid fire spread, reduced visibility from blowing dust, and hazardous travel in affected areas.

Authorities are urging residents to avoid outdoor burning and to use caution with potential fire-starting activities, such as operating machinery or discarding cigarettes. Even a small spark can escalate quickly under current weather conditions.

The warning is set to expire by late Tuesday evening, but residents should remain alert for possible extensions or new alerts. For updates, visit weather.gov/gfk.
