Grand Forks, ND – Residents should prepare for dense fog across the region Sunday into Monday, potentially reducing visibility along I-94 and other roadways. Temperatures will hover near freezing Sunday before colder air settles in by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog will persist through Monday morning, accompanied by light winds that will aid fog formation. Visibility could drop significantly, creating hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are advised to use low beams and reduce speed on affected routes. Temperatures Sunday will peak between 24°F and 37°F, with colder conditions near the Canadian border.

By Monday, morning fog will transition into mostly cloudy skies, with highs ranging from 21°F to 30°F. Winds from the northwest will gradually increase, signaling the arrival of a colder air mass. Tuesday’s forecast predicts breezy conditions and highs between 15°F and 30°F, with wind chills making it feel even colder.

As New Year’s Day approaches, temperatures are expected to plummet further. Wednesday will see lows between 0°F and 11°F, with daytime highs reaching only 7°F to 16°F. Breezy northwest winds may also bring flurries to the area. By Thursday, lows could dip as far as -6°F, with daytime highs struggling to surpass 11°F.

Residents should take precautions to stay warm and monitor road conditions throughout the week. Officials recommend layering clothing, limiting time outdoors, and ensuring vehicles are winter-ready. Stay tuned to local forecasts for updates as conditions evolve.
