Fargo, North Dakota – North Dakota is expected to remain locked in cold air late next week, but current signals point to only limited snow chances, with no strong indication of a widespread or high-impact winter storm at this time.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, North Dakota lies within a colder-than-normal pattern from Saturday through the following Friday. While temperatures are likely to stay well below seasonal averages, storm systems are expected to remain disorganized or track far enough south to limit snowfall potential across much of the state.

In eastern North Dakota, including Fargo and the Red River Valley, light snow or flurries are possible at times, but accumulations appear minimal. Open farmland could still allow brief visibility reductions if light snow combines with gusty winds, particularly along Interstates 29 and 94.

Across central North Dakota, including Bismarck and surrounding communities, cold and dry conditions are favored, keeping snow chances sporadic. Farther north near Minot and the Canadian border, occasional snow showers may occur, but impacts are expected to remain limited without a stronger weather system.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation advises residents to remain cautious during periods of extreme cold, as even light snow can create slick spots on untreated roads. While significant snowfall is not anticipated, updates will continue in case storm tracks or moisture availability increase later next week.
